you need to use the wmode="tranparent" in the embed method

    3. I have read on other sites though that wmode doesn't work with Safari. I haven't tested this myself as I don't have access to Safari so I can't say for sure, but I've seen it mentioned on several sites.

However, thats the method that I use.

      Use suckerfish dropdowns
      http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/

and ensure you have wmode set to 'transparent' in your Flash embed (use SWFObject
      http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/ to embed your Flash)

    5. Hi guys, im using suckerfish drop downs, and have tried wmode, z-indexing for the menu, z-indexing for the swf, and i still have the same rubbish result in safari, here is an example -

    6. I don't use Safari but from what I have read and posted above the wmode does not work in it. I don't know why as I haven't messed with it. I will trying browsing around and see if I can't find a better reason why.

      Found this.

"Unfortunately, there is a bug in Safari's Flash Player implementation. I know that a Macromedia engineer had filed a bug report on my behalf last year, but it apparently has not been acted on. Adobe used to have a workaround where they subbed a staitc JPEG for a Flash movie, but apparently they became frustrated and are just letting Safari flash away"

I guess it looks like there might not be any sort of fix yet, Im sure if I keep digging I will find a hack that you can use.

While browsing around I noticed that adobe.com have dropdown menu over flash.

I dont have safari to test if there are any issues. But this might be a handy tip if you can take a look around at their code.

let us know how you go.
